Honoring the Life of Vicki Grimaldi, a Friend to All Animals

June 21, 2024

The Maui community is mourning the loss of Vicki Grimaldi, the “kindest person one could ever meet.”

On June 1st, just shy of her fortieth birthday, Victoria Grimaldi was attempting to help a chicken in the road when she was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The driver was later caught and arrested.

Vicki is known for always going the distance to help animals at every possible opportunity.

With her sincere heart and gentle soul, Vicki found rescuing animals to be one of her passions.

For many years, Vicki helped the organization Save Maui Cats to care for numerous cat colonies in Lahaina several days each week.

As an advocate for animal rights, Vicki’s lifestyle as a vegan reflected her deep empathy and respect for all life and inspired those around her to consider their own choices.

In a gesture symbolic of Vicki’s caring heart, her car was donated to Leilani Farm Sanctuary as a tribute to her kind and selfless nature, allowing her compassion for animals to live on.

Taking inspiration from her life, we vow to uphold her legacy by embracing new adventures, empathy, compassion, and unconditional love. A special tree is being planted at the Sanctuary in honor of Vicki Grimaldi.
